    round 2 of madison extravaganza weekend about to commence. this drive is going to suck. 4 times through the same stretch of highway (8 hours total) in two days was not a good idea. and i’m already ache-y, so there’s that. i’m just looking forward to sleeping for days when i get back tonight. and i guess i’m sort of excited to see josiah leming. i mean, it’s actually more than just sort of, but i’d be much more excited if i hadn’t already stood for five hours/sat in a car for four hours yesterday.

    such a good show. i was second row, left of center. phox were really great, even though i didn’t know any of their songs, and they seemed really nice. (they also played a kimbra cover, which people seemed to enjoy.) the crowd was pretty enthusiastic, so i think it made for an awesome show for both bands. and company of thieves were amazing. i don’t think i’ve let go that much at a show outside of envy on the coast. there were some people in the crowd that were dancing a bit (including the guy to my right), so it was tons of fun. and “tallulah” was a party. i don’t think they had planned an encore, but we were yelling for quite a while, so they came back and played a new song (“too tired”) and another song from their first record (“in passing”). gen was super smiley and it was all just a lot of feel-good vibes the whole night. i definitely needed it.

    today there was a rather large insect crawling across the living room carpet, and as i yelled for my dad to come kill it, it took off flying and landed on the lamp right next to me. he killed it, but i have no idea what that thing was. it looked like one of those huge wasps that drag their legs behind them when they hover-fly, but my dad said it wasn’t. and then my brother suggests it was an earwig, and my mom goes “earwigs can’t fly!” and i wikipedia it, and they CAN. so now i hate the things about a billion times more.

    moral of the story: sometimes i use run-on sentences and fragments and mix tenses and generally make my high-level-english teacher very not-proud.

    here come the nervous jitters. they feel nice. i don’t think i’ve had them since my last show in madison, which was also my first josiah leming show, and the show at which i met the girl that i’m meeting up with at the saturday show. weird coincidence.
